26A – Celebrating Failure

1.       This semester I failed business finance. I did not work as hard as I needed to and now I have retake it. It was by far the hardest class I’ve ever had to take. I came into the class and underestimated it. I will not do that again next semester and will be able to pass this class.
2.       I learned that you cannot be lazy about upper level finance classes. They are not the same as basic macro and micro economic principles classes. I also learned that if you drop a class you have to pay a lot of money too.
3.       This class has taught me a lot about failure. I learned that it is not the end of the world. Next semester I will do better in that class and get an A. I am much more likely to take a risk now than I was at the beginning of this class.

  1. Hi James! That is a great example for this assignment! I'm sorry you have to retake business finance. That scares me because I'm taking in next semester and I've never taken it before. We all learn from our mistakes. Things happen and we have to keep pushing ourselves to better the next time. I think you having a great mindset by retaking the class next semester and actually focusing on the material is great and hopefully it won't happen again in any of your future classes!

  2. Hi James, For you, this is unfortunate that you failed Business Finance and have to retake it. I have heard that this is one of the hardest classes at UF and has made many people fail it and have to retake it. This is a good example to use for this assignment as it is something you failed at and have to bounce back from.

  3. Hi James,

I relate to your struggles with failing a class. My Sophomore Fall, I got lazy with Financial Accounting, and I ended up doing poorly on an exam and had to drop the class. From this experience of failure, I was able to grow as a person and retake the class in Sophomore Spring with a much stronger work ethic. After learning from my failure, I ended up getting an A in the class, and it has definitely built up confidence for me to continue to work hard when I take Finance this Spring.

  4. Hey, James! After reading your post, I can tell you that you're not the only one who's failed business finance, so you're definitely not alone! I respect you a lot for realizing you should've worked harder and studied more, but each failure is a lesson learned. You got this next time around!
